Lead Instructor Carl Collura
Overview: One of the most difficult problems we face as teachers of golf is our tendency to become methodical. Form is not necessarily function. Metaphorically speaking, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Golf is not a reaction sport. Good eye-hand coordination is not a must. Anyone can learn to hit a golf ball relatively well whether he or she is a good athlete or not. In fact, good eye-hand coordination can result in a player developing a poor skill set because he or she has this gift. I must confess though that being a good or even a great athlete will give one a huge advantage over another that is not.

There are a few simple concepts that must be learned in order for one to progress in the quality of his or her ball striking ability. Concepts like swing plane, shaft line plane, clubface position, spine angle, ball position, and arms-shoulders triangle should become as familiar to the student as his or her signature.
Improving one's swing is one way to improve one's game, but the game of golf is much more than just hitting a golf ball. The greatest players in the game today are magnificent strikers of the ball, however they are also masters of the short game (the part of the game that is played around and on the green). Given the variety of shots that must be played around the green I will suggest to you that these great players have spent as much time developing these skills as they have building a great golf swing.
So if you want to improve your overall game a holistic approach should be taken with an integrated plan to achieve success in both swing improvement and short game improvement. To view my biography please click
